Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy

A person newly diagnosed with any type of brain injury probably is not that interested with renting express furniture, so the medical staff standing around and talking about it instead of encouraging the patient will probably come across as unprofessional.  Bed side manner is a matter of class, and illustrates how much a medical professional cares about the person holistically instead of caring only about killing the disease.  Some doctors do not worry about hurting the feelings of their patients because they are more concerned with saving their lives, however, the patient’s mental health is very important to treat especially in the cases of Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy (CRT).

If the patient begins speaking to their family about the new furniture in their home, awaiting the arrival of the patient and the topic of express furniture comes up, then the medical staff would have reason to talk about a topic such as that with the patient.  At that point the medical staff, by talking about it would simultaneously be displaying their concern and compassion for the patient by being involved with them on levels outside of medicine.  The patient’s self esteem should always be taken into account by anyone working in the medical profession.  Doctors who are cognizant of the importance of treating the patient’s physical and mental health understand the power of positivity.

By treating the patient’s brain and the patient’s mind simultaneously, the patient will begin to indicate signs of real improvement at a faster rate than otherwise. It is always amazing to see how a person’s mental health can so drastically impact their physical condition.  This type of understanding should be practiced by everyone in the mental health industry, and especially those who administer CTR.  The faster a medical staff treats the person, both inside and out, the faster the entire hospital staff will be able to discuss express furniture, or whatever non-medical topic is on their mind.
